The Venerable Ruth Monette has served as Rector (an Anglican term for the senior priest of a parish) of St Stephen the Martyr since 2018. Prior to St Stephen's, Pastor Ruth served in parish settings as Interim Priest and in diocesan ministry as the Director for Mission and Ministry Development in the Diocese of New Westminster. Since 2023, she has also served as the Regional Archdeacon of Westminster, a region covering the Tri-Cities, Burnaby, and New Westminster.
Pastor Ruth began her journey to ordained ministry in Episcopal churches in the American Midwest, in a university chaplaincy in New York state, and in an internship program in Los Angeles. She earned an MDiv from the Episcopal Divinity School in Boston before being ordained in the Diocese of Los Angeles.
Family brought Ruth to British Columbia where she and her partner have lived in various communities since 2006. Parenting, knitting, reading, long walks, and eating her partner's baking keep her busy outside of parish life.
