Children of all ages are welcome in our services. We enjoy the presence of these young members of the family of God. Children are encouraged to participate as fully as they are able in the worship. There is an area to the side of the sanctuary for children who need to be more mobile or for caregivers who need a more comfortable seat.
All children who wish to attend our Children's Program go into the Parish Hall with their teachers. Teachers and children return to participate in Holy Communion.
The Parish has a high chair available for coffee hour. The women’s washroom is equipped with a baby-changing table and supplies for toddlers.
Sunday Children's Program:
During the Sunday morning service time, we offer educational programs for children and youth aged 3 to 18. Our programs are age-appropriate, involving a range of music, crafts, Bible stories, Bible literacy, study, and discussion. At the start of the service, the entire group meets at the baptismal for a time with the priest. Then the children move into their separate groups, returning to take Communion with their families.
There are special activities offered several times a year. Activities have included “Christianity and Croissants” sessions, where parishioners share their faith stories with our young people, and “Children and Churches around the World,” where parishioners who have come to Canada from other countries tell us about life where they grew up. Each year, our resident ceramic artist leads us in a clay art project for Easter.
We have two projects that encourage our children and youth to share and to learn about the world around us. Through Plan Canada, we sponsor a child in Kenya. We collect bottles and cans and bring coins to raise the support money, as well as writing letters and drawing pictures to send to the child and their family. We also share with our local school, Cameron Road Elementary; recently, we decorated snack bags and filled each one with a juicebox and granola bar for kids who come to school in need of a snack.
