Dear Friends. Morning Prayer and Zoom Coffee Hour

St. Stephen the Martyr Anglican Church
Pentecost! Events & Zoom Links
Dear Friends

Dear Friends

It is hard to believe that this coming Sunday, May 31st will be our 11th worshipping online and not in our building. This Sunday we will celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the disciples -- the power of which gave them confidence to proclaim the Gospel in many languages. We hope you'll be able to join us - on Zoom or in the Spirit. If you are joining us by Zoom, you are invited to wear something red to mark the occassion. Also, we will end our worship service by sharing words that Jesus says to his disciples in the reading from the Gospel of John for this week: "Peace be with you." I'll give everyone a chance to say those words in any language you might speak.

Some of you might also enjoy the opportunity to participate in an ecumenical worship service put on by the Canadian Council of Churches. It is on Saturday at noon, Pacific Daylight Time. I've included the flyer about it above and you can register at ecumenical-pentecost.eventbrite.ca.

We continue to work through the necessary steps to return to some form of in-person worship. Thank you for your feedback. It looks as if we will hold one Sunday service of Morning Prayer via Zoom and with some participants gathered in the Parish Hall, starting in mid-June. Please stay tune for details.

Lastly, please note that from the afternoon of May 31 through Sunday, June 7th I am taking some time off to rest and recharge. In the event of a pastoral emergency, please contact the church office. Lois now gets the church's calls forwarded to her cell phone and when that isn't happening, she and I both get an email alerting us to the voicemail you leave. Lois will coordinate with the wardens for pastoral care while I am away from the office.

Thank you so much for all the support you have provided to me and to one another and to the church's financial needs through these last 11 weeks. As Dr Bonnie reminds us: Be safe. Be calm. Be well!

Pastor Ruth
