Sermon for the Last Sunday after the Epiphany

When we are truly seen and known by God our truest selves are revealed. So when Jesus enters deep into prayer on the mountain with James and John and Peter, his truest self – the beloved Son of God, the Incarnation of the Word, his divine being – is revealed. And that true self is so incredible that it leaves him glowing, literally. And the invitation held out to us as we prepare to change the church’s season (from the season of Epiphany to the season of Lent), is an invitation to go deep into prayer and experience our own transitions and transfigurations.
