Join Pastor Ruth to take a step forward in reconiciation with the indigenous people of Canada and learn more about the "Doctrine of Discovery." We will gather on Zoom to watch and discuss the documentary, "Doctrine of Discovery: Stolen Land, Strong Hearts." We will watch about 1/2 the film on the first night and have time to talk about what we've seen. Then we'll regather the second night and finish the film, with time for discussion.
This autumn we are focusing our adult education on the theme of "nurturing welcome in ourselves and our community" and hearing from people within our community. These two sessions - although formatted differently - also challenge us to consider how our history contributes to the welcome we feel and offer. These sessions are part of our work considering how we move beyond land acknowledgment towards the future we desire where all people belong with respect and diginity.
