WHAT IS A VESTRY MEETING?

It is a meeting of all members of an Anglican Parish to make decisions regarding the life and ministry of the Parish. The Vestry elects a Parish Council who handle most of the parish’s business during the year. There must be one Vestry Meeting a year, but may be more.

WHO CAN ATTEND? Anyone!

WHO CAN VOTE?

All baptized persons, aged 15 or older, who are “accustomed worshippers” and have been on the Parish List since November 12, 2022. Being on the Parish List means that you have identified yourself to the Parish Office as intending St Stephen’s to be your church. You can only be on the Parish List of one Anglican Parish at a time. Please see Pastor Ruth if you are unsure if you are eligible to vote.

WHAT ARE WE GOING TO TALK ABOUT?

At Vestry we will

  • Acknowledge and thank leaders for their work in 2022.
  • Address the Parish’s financial situation and pass a budget for 2023.
  • Talk about our plans for 2023
  • Vote for members of the Parish to serve on Parish Council and to attend Diocesan Synod on our behalf (Synod is like a Vestry for the whole Diocese, a regional grouping of Anglican Parishes that in our case runs from Powell River to the US border and from the Sunshine Coast to Hope).

An official invitation will be sent to all parish members.
